How to convert just one part of a page to PDF
Capture Element is the manual counterpart to Article Mode. You point at the exact element you want — an article body, a chart, a single table, a recipe card — and the PDF contains only that element and its visual ancestors. Use it when Article Mode picks the wrong block, or when you want something Article Mode would never choose.

Steps
Open the extension and choose Capture Element
This puts the page into capture mode.
Hover to find the right element
As you move the pointer, the element under it is highlighted. Move up or down the page until the highlight outlines exactly the region you want.
Click to capture
The PDF is built from that element alone. Everything else on the page is excluded.
Download from the preview
Rename the file if you want, then download.
Worth knowing
- The text inside the captured element stays selectable and searchable — this is a real render, not a cropped screenshot.
- Hovering selects one element at a time. If the highlight covers too little, move toward a parent container; if it covers too much, move toward a child.
- A wide element may still need landscape orientation or a larger paper size to fit without shrinking.
Questions
When should I use Capture Element instead of Article Mode?
Article Mode is automatic and guesses at the main content; Capture Element is manual and takes exactly what you point at. Use Capture Element when Article Mode picks the wrong block, or when you want a single chart or table out of a dashboard — something Article Mode would never select.
Can I capture two separate elements into one PDF?
Not in a single pass — Capture Element takes one element per conversion. Either capture a shared parent container that contains both, or use Remove Elements on the full page to delete everything you don't want.
