How to convert a webpage to PDF
Open the page you want to save, click the extension icon (or press the keyboard shortcut), choose paper size and orientation, and click Convert. A preview tab opens where you can rename the file and download it. Everything runs in your browser — the page is never uploaded.

What you need
- Chrome, Edge, Brave, Arc, Opera or Vivaldi
- Convert: Web to PDF installed and pinned to the toolbar
Steps
Open the page you want to save
Navigate to it normally. If the page loads content as you scroll, scroll to the point you want captured first — the extension converts what is loaded, not what could load later.
Click the extension icon
If you don't see it, click the puzzle-piece icon in Chrome's toolbar, find Convert: Web to PDF, and click the pin icon to keep it visible. You can also press Ctrl+Shift+P (Cmd+Shift+P on Mac) on any page.
Pick paper size and orientation
A4 and Letter cover most documents. Use landscape for wide tables and dashboards. Expand "More options" for margins, scale, and headers and footers.
Click Convert
A preview tab opens showing the finished PDF. Most pages take 3–10 seconds.
Rename and download
The filename appears at the top of the preview tab and comes from the page's title — click it to edit before downloading. The file saves to Chrome's normal download folder.
Worth knowing
- The output is a real PDF rendered through Chrome's print engine, so text stays selectable and links stay clickable. It is not a screenshot.
- Pages you're signed into work normally, because the conversion happens in your already-authenticated tab.
- Chrome's own internal pages (chrome://settings, the Web Store) cannot be converted — Chrome blocks extensions from reading them.
Questions
Where does the PDF save to?
To Chrome's default download folder — usually ~/Downloads on Mac and Linux, or C:\Users\<you>\Downloads on Windows. The extension respects whatever Chrome is set to, so change it in Chrome's Settings → Downloads.
How long does a conversion take?
Three to ten seconds for most pages. Very long pages, or pages where you've enabled Load All Images, take longer because every deferred image has to be fetched first.
